Certain limitations apply. The offer is available to new users only, subject to the terms and conditions at kalshi.com/tc/500. 18+ only. Restrictions and eligibility requirements apply. Step by step

  1. Sign up and finish identity verification. You can't deposit until your account is verified.
  2. Open Kalshi and tap your balance (or go to Account and choose Deposit).
  3. Pick a method. The first time, you'll link it: a bank through Plaid, a card by entering the details (or Apple Pay / Google Pay), or your PayPal or Venmo login.
  4. Enter the amount. The minimum is $10 for most methods.
  5. Check the screen before you confirm. It shows any fee and, for bank transfers, how much you can use straight away.
  6. Confirm. Deposits can't be cancelled once submitted, so double-check the amount.

If you're claiming the welcome offer, read the terms on our Kalshi promo code page first. Some offers need a minimum deposit or trade.

Which deposit methods does Kalshi accept?

Kalshi's help centre lists these methods (checked 27 September 2026):

Debit card, Apple Pay, Google PayInstantMay be 2%$10

A few details worth knowing:

  • Cards: Visa, Mastercard and Discover debit cards are accepted. American Express isn't. Credit cards may go through, but your card issuer may treat it as a cash advance with extra charges, so debit is the safer choice.
  • PayPal, Venmo and Cash App are for US accounts only and may not be available in every state.
  • Crypto: Kalshi shows the supported coins and networks on the deposit screen. Always send the exact coin on the exact network shown.
  • Wires: you must include your personal Kalshi memo code. Wires without it can be delayed or returned, and wires under $1,000 are returned.
  • Name match: the bank account, card, PayPal or Venmo must be in the same name as your Kalshi account.

Which method should you use?

  • Small first deposit, want to trade today: debit card. Accept the small fee, or check how much of a bank transfer Kalshi will release immediately.
  • Regular deposits, no rush: bank transfer (ACH). It's free.
  • Large amounts: wire. No Kalshi fee, fast, and your bank's fee matters less on a big transfer.
  • You already hold stablecoins: crypto, but only if you're comfortable with networks and addresses.

Why can't I withdraw money I just deposited?

Kalshi places security holds on some deposits. Bank transfers in particular must fully settle before the money can go back out, even if Kalshi let you trade with part of it straight away. Wire deposits are available to withdraw immediately, according to Kalshi's help centre. Plan ahead if you might need the money soon. Our Kalshi withdrawal guide covers the other side of this.

Troubleshooting a failed or missing deposit

  • Card declined: make sure the billing address matches your Kalshi address and the cardholder name matches your account. Some banks block payments to trading or event-contract sites; call your bank or try another method.
  • "Pending" charge after a decline: declined card deposits can show as pending on your statement. They normally drop off within 1 to 2 business days. No money was taken.
  • Bank won't link: Kalshi doesn't accept VoIP phone numbers during bank linking, and the account must be in your name.
  • Bank deposit slow: ACH can take several business days. Weekends and bank holidays don't count.
  • Crypto not showing: network congestion can push it past 30 minutes. Check the transaction on a block explorer. If you sent the wrong coin or used the wrong network, contact support at once.
  • Wire missing: check you included the memo code.
  • Negative balance: this can happen if a deposit is reversed or disputed with your bank. Fix it by depositing enough to cover the gap or waiting for the dispute to be resolved.

How much should you deposit?

Only money you can afford to lose. Prediction market contracts can go to zero. Many beginners start with $20 to $50, place a first small trade and learn how the order screen works before adding more. Read our Kalshi review and fees guide to know what you'll pay once you're trading.
